Zhang Ran, a native of Taiyuan, worked as a journalist in Beijing for ten years, and then engaged in science fiction writing. Zhang shows considerable literary talent and his writing has great literary value. His sci-fi debut Yitai (Ether) received rave reviews, winning the first prize for the year’s Galaxy Award. In October 2015, his The Ravenous won him the Galaxy Award and the Chinese Nebula Awards for the Best Novellette. The next year, When the Sun Fell again won the Galaxy Award for the Best Novellette. His short story Master Zhao was highly acclaimed by the editors from People’s Literature.

Jiang Bo (born January 15, 1978, Zhejiang), a representative of the newer generation of science fiction writers, graduated from Tsinghua University with a master’s degree in microelectronics, and works in a foreign- funded company in Shanghai conducting semiconductor research. Jiang Bo’s work is rich in content with simple language, cool style and fertile imagination, full of the unique artistic charm of hard science fiction, which enables him to win the Galaxy Award for several times. In November 2017, Jiang’s novel The Galaxy Heart gained the heavyweight “best novel” for the 28th Galaxy Award, winning 100,000 yuan in prize money. In November 2019, his sci-fi Gate of the Machines won the Best Novel for Galaxy Award again, as well as the Best Sci-fiction Novel for JD Literature Award.
